What are the rules on what version(s) of clients can run with what version(s) of servers? Is there backward server compatibility, for example, can an 8.3 client work with a 9.0 server? I'm sure this is documented somewhere, but I cannot find it. Thanks for your help.

The ReadMe files for each version specify this info - what version is the basis of your query?

There might be exceptions, but any DOORS vX client can work with any DOORS vX server, so a v8.0 client will work with a v8.2 database. A vX client will never work with a vY server.
Some bugs manifest themselves (again) when you do mis-match versions.
You can, and should, restrict version access via the Database properties.

I downloaded the linux package (server) for 9.0 ages ago, and it did not contain a readme with that information.. I can't look at any currently available packages as we are no longer under maintenance. The particular versions I have are 9.0 and 8.3 and I was wondering how to go about updating -- If I could do a phased update or if it was all-or-nothing. Sounds like if I want to move to 9 on the server, I must update the clients at the same time.
Thanks for you're reply.
